System: CPU model I5-12600K, GPU Inno3D RTX 3050, RAM 32GB Kingston DDR5, Motherboard Gigabyte z690UD DDR5, PSU Corsair RMx 650, HDD Seagate 2TB 7200RPM, SSD Samsung 980 1TB. My PC operated smoothly during setup, all peripherals connected without issues. A warning appeared about insufficient hosts, so I switched to a USB hub. Everything functioned until my headset (SteelSeries Artic 5) began disconnecting. Audio stopped completely, though the lights remained on. After reinstalling drivers and disabling xHCPI (correct spelling?), the issue resolved partially. A Windows reinstall improved stability. Suddenly, during stress testing, power dropped sharply followed by a sudden loss, making it unclear if the PSU, CPU, or motherboard was affected. I captured a graph showing audio cuts whenever the headset or mic failed, with a brief spike before the drop.
Intel Diagnostic Tools is also active, causing the CPU to report a BrandString error. Overclocking was not performed on the system.
650 watts seems a bit low for an RTX30 series setup. Invidia suggests a minimum of 750W for most configurations. Keep in mind, though—I’m using an APC 1000VA UPS with my RTX3060ti and have only seen under 450W running. It might depend on the games I play; some like BeamNG.drive and American Truck Simulator can be demanding.
A lack of power might stop the PC completely or slow it down. The main issue seems to be with my headset, and fixing it is as simple as turning it off in the sound settings and back on.
Unless the power supply unit is defective, 650W is more than sufficient for that setup. The GPU is just a 130W 3050, so you're in good shape there. Any PSU might be questionable and lead to odd problems, but in your situation it's not due to incorrect sizing. Still worth noting for me; if you replace the PSU, 650W is more than enough. Are you using the newest BIOS? Is it set to defaults? When you reinstalled Windows, did you opt for the built-in reset in settings or performed a complete wipe and reinstall? That image resolution is too low to load properly—do you have a way to upload the original file? Press Win+Shift+S, it will copy it directly to the clipboard for you.
I take responsibility for my phone's performance issues. I should have uploaded a more updated version. The built-in reset worked, and I’m using the newest BIOS settings now. The main adjustment I need is turning on virtualization.
I’ve never encountered this before and don’t know a fix, but here are some ideas to consider. A PSU has limited current on the 12V and 5V rails, and your USB devices run on 5V. If this rail gets overloaded, the motherboard might reduce USB power. If you suspect this is the problem, check the voltage graphs—your rails could fail under load. I think this is unlikely given your host error, which points more to a software issue than power supply. Have you checked your USB settings in BIOS or updated the BIOS?
Idk what to speculate if its software or hardware, but last time I saw voltage was perfectly fine and stable, I did explore a bit of my options in BIOS and disabled and enabled a few, ended up by disabling my 3.0 ports just to not get any host problems. I should note the peripherals plugged in Razer deathadder mouse SteelSeries Artic 5 TPLINK-Wifi dongle Logitech C920 Steelseries apex 3 And if not written I have 5 fans running 2 For CPU Noctua CPU Cooler 1 120MM Fan 2 120MM White LED Fan (Accidentally bought these but oh well) Still wattage wise it is fine, sometimes disabling and enabling my sound doesn't fix it I have to manually unplug and re-plug the headset USB
Recent update: PC stalled after struggling with my miracast, losing connection twice. I had to reset the BIOS defaults, performed a 5-minute stress test with Intel Extreme Utility, while maximizing the GPU and playing music. The PC functioned normally, but the Intel diagnostic tool kept failing because it doesn’t support 12 generation yet. I’ll look into this further.
