Ports resetting quickly during high usage
I wasn’t certain where to place this under workbench or operating systems. But the title makes it clear—I’m dealing with issues with my USB devices when I put some strain on my PC, such as running a game. For instance, during a gaming session my mouse would suddenly disconnect without warning. Inside Windows, there was no audio signal to indicate disconnection, and the issue spread to my keyboard and drawing tablet as well, eventually causing them to stop working altogether. The video shows the condition the devices reached at that stage. This has been happening for three days now. I’ve tried several fixes: adjusting the power plan to prevent disconnections, checking Event Viewer for errors, and uninstalling VirtualBox entirely, but neither helped. My system specs are: CPU i3 2120, GPU GTX 650, 1GB RAM, 8GB OS, running Windows 10. As a newcomer to the forum, I’m not sure if the attached MP4 file was saved correctly, and I’ll fix it quickly if needed. [EDIT] I also ran a stress test on Linux and the same problem appeared, so the problem seems to be specific to Windows.
Does the term 'under load' refer to full capacity? When your computer becomes unresponsive and then quickly recovers, your F.lux and GeForce Experience seem to restart automatically. This involves both software and hardware aspects.
It was near half capacity before, which makes me suspect it's software—though I'm not sure. If it is software, it's probably dead mobo, which I really hope isn't true. [EDIT] I could try Linux on a live USB and run a stress test to help pinpoint the issue, if you think that would be useful. Edited June 1, 2018 by SmileLee
