Your USB ports intermittently disconnect after a short delay, which disrupts your work. The headphones cause issues during Discord calls, making it hard to speak clearly. The mouse also suffers from frequent drops, complicating use. The keyboard works fine, but nothing seems to be working consistently. It appears the problem lies with your PC hardware, possibly the motherboard, despite recent Windows reinstall and driver updates. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are there any USB issues in your event viewer? Is the USB port in Device Manager malfunctioning? You might have a connection problem with your connectors or motherboard. I recommend inspecting the contacts on the motherboard and USB ports, as well as verifying your power cables from the PSU. Check your Windows power settings—go to Advanced Settings, then USB settings, and look under USB Selective suspend; make sure it’s turned off. Confirm it works. Also, remove and reinstall your USB drivers in Device Manager.

The event viewer showed no errors. I opened the case, removed the device, and then reconnected the USB ports. Recently, I swapped out my PSU for an upgrade (the problem was with the previous one). After uninstalling and reinstalling the USB host connectors, I turned off suspend in power settings, but the mouse and headphones still disconnect.

Device manager doesn't reveal any issues with the USB host/controller. Are these problems limited to the rear panel USB connections on your motherboard, or do the front panel connectors behave similarly? It could be the motherboard itself or the built-in USB controller that's experiencing difficulties. Could you provide a detailed list of your hardware specifications? Also, have you tested other USB devices while disconnecting your keyboard?

The device manager doesn't indicate any issues, but problems appear on both the front and back panels. Removing the keyboard still causes disconnections. Here are your system details: GIGABYTE AB350m Gaming 3 motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 1400 GTX, 1080, 16 GB DDR4, 700W PSU.

I’m considering your motherboard might be the issue. Try requesting a return merchandise authorization if needed—replacement is likely. You can use USBDeview to inspect the power status and port details, which may help pinpoint the problem. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Hey Fred, sorry for the tag. I changed my motherboard and case, but the issues persist. I’m wondering if there’s another component causing the trouble—maybe the CPU? I didn’t think it’d fail so soon.

The issue seems to persist. CPU issues can cause delays and varied signs, making it plausible. It's possible some USB controller drivers on the manufacturer’s site missed during automatic updates or installs. You might need to replace CPUs—this could be a very specific problem. I’d suggest buying a lottery ticket just for fun, but probably not worth it. Look for any signs of short circuits and ensure all connections are secure. Test with a different power supply if available.

I've inspected the wiring and USB ports several times, but unfortunately I don't have another power supply. I might ask a friend to lend one for a quick check. If the issue persists, I'm considering getting a new CPU and hoping it resolves itself.
