My previous SMPS stopped working after a repair cost RM 1000. The replacement increased the price to RM 1000x. After swapping the keyboard and mouse in BIOS, it still fails—lights flash on the mouse and keyboard. I’m unsure what to do next. Please assist. System specs: i7 5930k, GTX 980Ti, 32GB RAM, RM 1000x SMPS, old PSU rm 1000 ASUS X99, Windows 8 Pro.
Ensure USB ports are activated in BIOS as well. Consider reinstalling your USB drivers to check for any issues in Windows.
they are activated, I don’t have any other way to provide input like an old PS2. I noticed a potential issue with the USB driver, but I couldn’t resolve it.
Try launching safe mode and check if the mouse and keyboard respond. It should automatically switch to the standard drivers in safe mode. If they function there, you can remove the faulty drivers and restart normally. Once back in a full Windows session, the device should work again. If nothing works in safe mode, you’re likely stuck unless you have another machine to test the drive on. In that case, a complete reinstall might be necessary. Considering your system’s age and the fact you’re using Windows 8, a fresh installation would be best, especially if it’s the original setup. Upgrading to Windows 10 is also advised when installing again.
I removed the SSD from the computer, created a new file system, and set up Windows 10. After that, I reconnected to the system, but the issue persists—USB ports function in BIOS but not in Windows. You might need to check other components or consider replacing the motherboard.
You've tried formatting the SSD, fresh installing Windows, and still faced issues. It's quite unusual. I'd consider resetting the CMOS on the motherboard as well to rule that out. If that doesn't resolve it, a replacement board would be the next logical step. You might want to order from places like Amazon or any retailer with a solid return policy just in case the problem isn't with the hardware.
I noticed the error code AA appears on the board display. It's noted that if the issue persists due to hardware failure, please review the suggested solutions. Thank you for your advice.
