I’ll check that later but need to rest first. I spotted this while browsing, so should I be able to reach my modem?

You might need to check the modem directly since the online tester still shows it as closed. I’ll spend some time learning about its settings and configurations. Updating the firmware could affect its performance, so make sure you’re using the latest version. If this advice isn’t current, it may not apply.

There seems to be limited data on the WebUI of that modem. You'll need to log in and look for port forwarding or bridged mode settings. It looks like whoever installed the old modem handled these configurations before they left, but this time it wasn’t done. The internet should still function, though port forwarding won’t work.

To access the system, you need to figure out the exact step you're uncertain about.

I found the solution and had to adjust just one value in the IP address...

Connecting directly will display the default gateway IP using ipconfig in CMD. For port forwarding, check the modem settings and direct the traffic to the WAN interface IP on your router. Or use bridged mode as needed.

The modem lacks a built-in router or firewall, so you have limited options. You can access it via the IP address 192.168.1.100 if your ISP hasn’t blocked access. Your only actions are reviewing signal strength and checking logs—no configuration changes are possible. Only your ISP can set up the modem settings. The user owns a typical digital voice modem with no internal router, and I verified this on Amazon. Port forwarding isn’t available here.

It seems like a glitch in the firmware. Usually, if your router acts up this way, it's a software issue. A firmware update might help, though we can't be sure.

I suggested his IP address might have shifted but confirmed he’s using the right one for testing. Likely the server doesn’t have a fixed static IP—it’s now pointing to a different address. That could explain why the port forwarding isn’t reaching it. I’m also considering a possible conflict between the modem and router software/firmware, which might prevent proper port access. If that were the issue, his internet connection would likely be affected.
