They're considering a mesh router for their vacation home. Right now, they use one router and it works well when they plug it in during visits. With a mesh system, they'd need to connect the satellite units too. I'm curious if it would start up quickly—like within a minute or two—just like the single router does. They're unsure which model to choose since they're still deciding what to get.

For your Orbi mesh setup, simply connect the devices and let it initialize. The rest depends on the specific model.

You're considering a setup with potentially different speeds. The system supports a 2.4GHz backbone, but many devices you own run at around 5GHz. It might be necessary to have one per room due to signal issues from walls and older hardware connecting through the router.

I don't think so. They seem to operate in their own frequency within the 5ghz band for communication, and even if they're not very close, each device works well. I’m not sure how many units there are because I lost the password to access them, but it’s likely over 50 on a RBR50 router plus two satellites.
