I recently assembled a new PC equipped with a Ryzen 5 5600x and the aforementioned motherboard. I also possess an EVGA 650w 80+ Gold power supply and a placeholder 1060 6gb RAM. One of the first problems I encountered was frequent reboots even when under light usage. This prevented me from installing or downloading files due to the constant restarts. After some investigation and BIOS modifications, I chose to disable C-state power saving and increased the DRAM voltage. This resolved the rebooting issue, allowing me to install drivers and Windows updates. However, my audio ports disappeared entirely, and Ethernet speeds dropped significantly. The back ports detected my device but showed no audio or feedback, while the front port failed to recognize anything. For instance, Ethernet speeds hovered around 8mbps compared to about 100mbps for Wi-Fi. The Ethernet performance remained consistent before any BIOS changes, though I’m unsure about the audio ports since testing wasn’t possible. I have the latest BIOS, drivers, and Windows 10 updates installed. I’m at a complete standstill and considering returning the motherboard or CPU for replacement. Since the initial reboots were noticeable, I’m wondering if either component was defective from the start.
Based on my observations, I’d replace the motherboard. It seems the problem is likely there, and with unreliable components at the start, issues tend to persist and affect your system long-term. Side note: a faulty power supply might also be the cause—what EVGA PSU model do you have?
My power supply is an EVGA GT 650w 80+ Gold. For the Ethernet and audio connections, I changed the duplex/speed options in my settings, which now gives me around 100Mbps upload and 30Mbps download. It's much more stable than before, though it's still slower than my laptop's wired connection which hits 300Mbps. Regarding the audio, I reinstalled the Realtek drivers after uninstalling them, and now my headset works on all ports, but I'm still having trouble getting clear sound. I'm considering sending a return warranty for the motherboard, but I think these problems are more related to software than hardware.
