Do you mean setting up a rule to send traffic from within your network to another device outside it? Port forwarding works between networks, not just between devices on the same local area.

In fact, you're able to redirect traffic between any networks and even inside the same one using techniques like hairpinning or NAT based on your equipment.

But we're not focusing on premium enterprise configurations. If you're concentrating on a basic home network, you might be making a mistake, especially if several routers are fragmenting each subnet—review your setup and consider revising it. On a fairly simple local network, you shouldn't be forwarding ports through one router for everyday traffic.

Connect to WiFi, run CMD.exe and type "ipconfig". This displays your system's IP, gateway, and subnet. Disconnect from WiFi, then follow the steps in Control Panel to check your network settings. Save any notes you make about the IP details.
