Windows usually hides all other sounds when an alert appears, then restores your volume after the pop-up. After a recent Windows 10 update, the volume didn’t return properly and stayed very low. The best solution seems to be playing a YouTube video that wasn’t already running. (I’m not sure if this is the only fix, but it’s what I’ve tried.) Anyone have any ideas?

Open your volume mixer and bring everything back up again. It seems like an update might be needed, or perhaps reinstalling Windows or restarting the PC could help.

None of the settings in the mixer are lowered, and I’ve received an update and restarted already. Still, thanks. Likely I’ll have to wait for a fix eventually.
