I used POP OS 20.04 LTS with a machine equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 (EVGA). During the demo before installation, the display reached 1024 x 768 on a wide screen, but after installation it became stuck at 640x480. I verified they use identical drivers during both demo and installation. I attempted to install the Nvidia 390 drivers, but resolution improvement didn’t occur. What options do you have?

Use the open source driver (nouveau) for better compatibility with older cards. This driver is tailored for pre-900 series and often performs better than proprietary options, though exact timing varies with Nvidia's GPU development cycles. If issues persist, adjust display resolution via xrandr from the terminal.

There are several challenges when working with a Nvidia GPU, especially depending on the driver version. The age of the GPU can be swapped out for an affordable used AMD model with similar capabilities. My mother's TV PC originally had a GTX 650, but it would freeze randomly regardless of the driver used. After installing an AMD graphics card (around $30 from Kijiji), all problems vanished. No driver adjustments were needed—just plug and play. The lesson here is to avoid Nvidia for Linux systems; go with AMD instead, which is simpler.

Thanks for your support. After several attempts, installing and uninstalling, I successfully installed it using sudo apt install nvidia-driver-390. This time it functioned properly.

But for future projects, think about AMD. It works better with Linux.
