It's not always the top choice, as Arch tends to be cutting-edge, making it uncertain for slower distributions. (Also, Pop-OS runs on Ubuntu with adjustments, so refer to their wiki for details.)

Based on my observations, relying on the Arch Wiki alongside a distribution-specific wiki offers the most reliable approach, though it requires some skill to execute consistently. Two additional resources could be useful: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=261120. It applies to Linux Mint but remains effective.

Install Ubuntu alongside additional repositories for drivers tailored to System 76 laptops, plus a refined GNOME version.

It's true, Ubuntu is essentially a modified Debian, which itself comes from an even more refined version of the original source.

It offers a significantly improved launch experience compared to Ubuntu. System76 reviewed the standard settings found in most Debian-based distributions and adjusted them to deliver the intended setup. A notable change is the elimination of the annoying screen tearing issue on my desktop when using an Nvidia card with any Debian version. Fixing this required roughly 30 minutes of additional steps before it worked smoothly. Pop OS was the first distro where I could install and use it immediately after setup.
