Poor visuals ruin my experience of classic games.
I experimented with various classic titles (like Half-Life 1, The Elder Scrolls 3, Doom 3) and the experience felt decent, though I didn’t feel fully immersed. Newer releases such as Wither 3 made me realize that sometimes you need remakes or graphics enhancements to achieve the same effect. For instance, the corridor in Half-Life 1 with blood and corpses seemed less intense compared to what I expected.
Hailing from the world of horror gaming, I find blood and gore less unsettling when it comes with a solid setup and genuine threat.
It's completely normal to feel indifferent. Simply move on and let it pass.
I’m not seeking a horror title with poor visuals—those were just an illustration. I don’t enjoy scary games; I’ve played around 2 hours of Resident Evil 7 and about 1 in Outlast.
What a surprise! It seems the visuals aren't as bad as they might appear. I believe you've surpassed the limits of immersion, no matter how the graphics look. Plus, it's possible the video wasn't engaging enough for you to stay involved.
I don’t claim to avoid using my imagination. Perhaps my limits came from when I began playing games around 2014. Back then, Portal 2 offered such a deep experience that I naturally wanted to dive into it and uncover its secrets.
