Poor results when restarting frequently
All right sooo, as the topic name says, my PC have really poor perfs if i dont restart it after powering it on. Not turning it off and then powering it again, no i need to restart it via the windows button. If i dont restart it my PC give me like 50% of what he can give me.... Example : Helldivers 2 first boot : 100-110fps Restarted : 180-190fps BF2042 First boot : 120-130fps Restarted : 220-240fps It's not a big problem as i just restart it and then it's all right BUT it's really annoying haha Does anyone of you already have to deal with this little problem ? Specs : Cpu = 7950x3D Gpu = 4090 Matrix Ram = 64gb DDR5 5600 CL40 PSU = 1000W Msi MPG A1000G PCIE5 Thanks !
The clock signals of the CPU and graphics components are likely the main contributors.
Also verify temperatures—it might be a glitch with the windows, so a reinstall could help. I think your SSD isn’t overly full, which could cause problems. Have you checked file integrity or uninstalled/reinstalled it?
Your machine experiences slowdowns before restarting MSI Kombustor. If your graphics card isn't operating at 90% capacity during the program, you likely face similar challenges. I've worked with a client who built a 7950X3D and an RTX 4090. They also dealt with identical performance problems. Based on what I've observed in forums, the problem stems from integrated graphics drivers for the 7950X3D interfering with the 4090. Initially, removing the iGPU drivers and AMD Adrenalin helped—ensuring the iGPU was off in BIOS and Device Manager. After a fresh install of the 4090 drivers, performance improved temporarily. However, updating Windows and reinstalling drivers resolved the issue again. I recommend disabling the iGPU in BIOS to prevent Windows from detecting it or attempting driver updates. Reinstalling Windows 11 with the iGPU disabled should work. If that fails, consider a full OS reinstall after adjusting BIOS settings. Some users report recurring issues, so keeping an eye on BIOS updates can be beneficial. I've seen success with similar configurations using 7800X3D systems instead.
I'll look into it for the drivers and perform a hardware monitor test to check the status. Just reinstalled Windows and it keeps running, but I didn't think about removing the IGPU driver, so I'll do that now! Thanks!
I'm not sure if OP has the identical motherboard. From what I see, several users have shared experiences with a mix of 7950X3D and 4090 chipsets. The issue appears only during installation or when Windows automatically installs the graphics drivers. I've also heard from at least two others facing the same problem, though their boards differ from yours. The system works fine when the iGPU is turned off in BIOS and the drivers are removed.
He hasn't completed the swap yet, please review my previous message. He plans to attempt a 7800X3D if the problem arises again.
I've handled most of the 7800X3D boards I've assembled or built myself. His system was independently designed and developed, and I just put it together. I usually pick reliable boards and stick with them. Every 7800X3D project I’ve worked on uses the same board, though it's a different model from his. This one is particularly tough—arrived with a dead CMOS battery (many units shipped with faulty batteries), and most of the board has to be disassembled to modify it. That part was already fixed. If you're interested, he also has a Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master.
