I understand the laptop is nearing its seventh year, yet the details suggest it shouldn't be this underperforming. I shared the specifications below. My goal is mainly to play Overwatch and I also tried Mordhau. In Overwatch everything runs at low settings—720p, 75% resolution—and I still manage only 20-50 frames per second. The 50 fps appears only when there’s no one around. With Mordhau… it feels like a slow presentation. For me, none of these titles are extremely demanding. Do you think something is wrong or is the system just too old for such performance? I find it surprising that with a 6-year-old game it averages just 20 fps. Specs: Intel Core i7-7500U, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M, 16 GB DDR4.

The device I noticed was designed to run on two parts, likely slowing down its performance to save power and improve cooling in tablet mode, which also helps prolong battery life. Considering the M GPUs aren’t top-tier compared to desktop versions, plus years of dust accumulation and maybe an outdated Windows setup, achieving smooth performance isn’t straightforward.

I recently cleaned the laptop and everything is up to date. The updates likely made it run slower, but I’m not sure how to fix it or if downgrading would help.

Dust shouldn't pose an issue. What version of your operating system is installed, and are there many background tasks active?
