Poor performance on a reasonably good machine
Hey everyone, my cousin’s setup includes an i5 3570, an RX 580 with 8GB RAM, a 16GB DDR3 motherboard. It’s having trouble running Left 4 Dead 2, which causes the game to drop to around 20 frames for a short time and then crash, forcing him out. In CS:GO it runs smoothly at about 50fps.
Check for overheating by running hwinfo in sensors-only mode during gaming and observe the CPU and GPU temperatures.
No overheating detected, CPU temperature is around 62 degrees and I'm experiencing stress during the CPU usage test.
They have an SSD. The GPU temperature is normal. The Windows version is quite old. FPS in GTA 5 and CS2 match expectations for that age.
Won 10, SSD installed, I'm monitoring GPU temps—it's throttling, reaching 84°C.
I would guess it's some odd graphics setting that doesn't agree with the video card, like 16x antialiasing or some stupid high quality setting. Try resetting the graphical quality to low or medium, choose some preset that would force most graphical settings to be reset. Sounds like the highest temperature requires a thorough cleaning and possibly a refurbishment
It doesn’t look very good at all—this machine is over a decade old. The i5-3570 is quite outdated, and 4D-Titan often causes problems with older AMD graphics cards like the RX580.
