Poor performance on a high-end computer
PC with Ryzen 7 3800X, 16GB RAM. Playing O2 at low settings except ultra shadows at 1440p. Performance drops to 240fps and GPU usage around 60%. CPU usage is between 30-40%. Benchmark results show RAM underperforming at 85%. Streaming Apex runs at 130fps without full GPU usage.
Apex and Rocket League are playing smoothly at 240, with core temperature staying under 60%.
The results of other titles don't necessarily affect your experience in OW2. You might easily reach over 1000 fps in Half Life 2 if you remove the frame cap, but this doesn’t mean you can hit 1000 fps in today’s games. In Zen 2 footage for OW2 online, I notice the low frames hover near 180fps, suggesting a 240fps capture isn’t possible with that hardware. Your typical FPS should stay above 240, though it will dip occasionally. It’s interesting you manage consistent 240fps in Apex Legends; I’d expect you to average around 200–220fps there, with occasional mid-100s drops.
