In general, I maintain around 45 to 90 frames per second while playing Minecraft. Other games run smoothly. Sometimes my main character’s frame rate drops to 20 to 30 and I’m puzzled. I’ve checked the internet for fixes, updated all drivers, adjusted settings, disabled V-Sync, and modified Windows 10 configurations, but nothing resolves the issue. I hope someone can assist. My system specs: OS – Windows 10 Home; CPU – Intel i7-6700 (3.40 GHz); GPU – AMD Radeon R9 390; RAM – 8 GB; SSD – 440 GB. I was anticipating steady 200 to 300 FPS in Minecraft, but now it feels like a slowdown similar to my old laptop. Was my expectations too high? Please let me know if there’s anything incorrect. For the Java edition of Minecraft, I recommend installing Optifine. This game is CPU-intensive and typically runs on just one core by default. Using Optifine can help it utilize multiple cores, potentially resolving your frame rate problems.

You probably didn't install DDU during the GPU driver reinstall.

I used OptiFine and even tried the latest version to check if it helped. Thanks for the suggestion! When I reinstalled the GPU drivers, I wasn’t very comfortable with computers, so it would be nice if someone could clarify what that process involves. Thanks again.

Removes your previous GPU driver. Installing a fresh one alone won’t help if the old one remains, which might affect your frame rate negatively.

I'm ready to try it out now.
Updated: Didn't make much progress. Performance remains consistent.

Based on your specifications, you can anticipate a smooth gaming experience with an expected frame rate around 60 FPS.

Normal settings would be around 200+ frames per second. Even with the 6700's built-in Intel HD 530, you should still see better than what you expect. Confirm Java is current and use the 64-bit version if available. In the launcher, choose 'edit profile' at the bottom left. Within the editor, set your executable path correctly, like "C:\Program Files\Java\jre<version number>\bin\javaw.exe". Adjust JVM options accordingly: -Xmx4G, -Xms4G, enable GC strategies, and specify client version. This should help allocate memory efficiently. The suggested RAM allocation of 4GB is quite high for standard games.

Both options worked equally well.
