Poor performance after upgrading gpu
I'am having very poor performance
i just upgraded gpu from 1060 3GB to a Gigabyte Vega 56, and i haven't achieved a lot of better performance.
I have updated my Gpu drivers and reinstalled using DDU.
Specs:
CPU: i7 4790
GPU: Gigabyte RX Vega 56 8gb oc
RAM: 16gb ddr3 1600 Mhz
MOBO: ASUS H97-pro
PSU: CoolerMaster G750M (750W)
I have stutters and divergent low/high fps in most games.
GTA V --> Singeplayer max 75 / Multiplayer 50 average
Far cry 5 ---> around +- 60 fps ( Ultra but when i lower my settings fps doesn't change)
Battlefield 1 ---> 105 fps in TDM. But in operations average of 45 fps
It looks like my FPS has decreased after the upgrade of the GPU in some games
I think it is a problem with CPU and/or RAM but not quite sure.
Edit: I see that when i'm in very busy areas the fps decrease drastically... What does this mean?
That’s an excellent and insightful question! The Vega 10 6T did indeed experience more stuttering compared to the GTX 1060, largely due to driver issues and its lower performance tier. The Vega 20 in the 4790 shares similar challenges, particularly with older drivers, resulting in a noticeable amount of stutter, especially at higher resolutions or when running demanding games. It’s likely that the 4790's architecture is simply less optimized for current titles compared to more established GPUs like the GTX 1060, leading to this performance bottleneck and those stuttering effects.

I don't have exact fps infos, but i know i had a lot less stutter.
Could it be that the vega card is less compatitible with the 4790 than the 1060 was.
No, there is no such thing as a video card being more or less compatible with a CPU, but they do have different drivers which means games will run differently.
I recently purchased AC: Unity and, when playing on Ultra settings, I experience frame rates between 40 and 50. I’m struggling to locate a resolution.
