I think you might have discovered one of the rare machines that runs Windows 8 but not 8.1—the Samsung 500T (Samsung ATIV XE500T1C). If anyone else has experience working on a 500T, let me know. Don't waste time trying to install 8.1—it won’t work with the audio. (If you turn off or remove the audio driver, it should function.) Samsung seems really slow about updating the BIOS on this device.

It's just an update, it's the same as version 8. I've installed Windows 8.1 on many old computers and it always worked fine. Perhaps you made a mistake.

That's what I told myself—it makes sense for it to work. But almost everyone with that 500t faces the same issue... (I found this out after three days of trying to fix it)

Observing the duration it takes for them to release Android updates and transform them into touchwiss isn't unexpected.
