The 5900x offers the highest relative value, which is why I recommend choosing it if you must.
My 5900X delivers 4.55 across all cores at 1.2V, giving a quiet and efficient setup—strong recommendation. The 3950X struggles under single-core load despite similar multicore support, while the 5800X falters with the same multicore advantage. The 10900K is 200$ cheaper but may require more expensive power supply and motherboard, making the 5900X the better choice overall.
You have just one option if you want it immediately. The setup demands low power consumption below 70c to activate Thermal Velocity Boost. It also requires removing the intel power limit for maximum performance, which means a 360mm AIO or larger is necessary. In gaming, it outperforms my i7 8086k with a 5.1ghz all-core overclock. If the i9 comes with an all-core 5 or 5.1ghz boost, it falls short. With a 5.3ghz overclock, my i9 10900k remains stable without crashes but draws around 330 watts under load and may throttle in some tests (not ideal for AVX tasks). I haven’t experimented with other overclocking methods since the standard configuration works well so far. It also needs a robust motherboard—preferably not less than my ASUS Hero XII. This will also add to the overall cost, helping bring it closer to AMD pricing.
