Malwarebyte and most antivirus programs work with Windows XP. I’ve got a list of things that can run from Windows 10 to XP without problems, but it depends on the developer adding support for older systems.

I wouldn't access emails, banking, or social media through it. If you don't mind spending money on an operating system, try learning a Linux distribution or pirated Windows 7. Running Windows XP as a regular driver in 2017 is quite unnecessary unless you have a particular need.

To avoid costs, consider using free operating systems like Linux or Chrome OS. They offer a similar interface to traditional windows systems. http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os
