On a networked XP system, you gain complete management access and administrative commands. Similarly, websites (especially in IE) allow this level of control. Avoid relying on it for regular tasks; prefer Linux instead.

There will be issues right away. No security patches exist for Windows XP. Chrome won’t function, and trying to reach Google will fail. Many applications will stop working. I’ve experienced this firsthand a few times. I’d try it only if you isolate the XP system from the main network.
