PlexPlex via PIA?
PlexPlex via PIA?
Hello, I'm setting up Plex to use PIA's dedicated IP address so I don't have to worry about restrictions on who can access my library. I've experimented with many port forwarding options, but most fail. Plex indicates full access outside the network, yet it disappears quickly and isn't visible. The public IP corresponds to PIA's dedicated address, while the port matches the one routed through PIA. The private IP is a random string I shouldn't share if it might be sensitive. Without the VPN, streaming works freely; with it, it doesn't. My router is an Unifi (UDM PRO). Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm not very familiar with ports but tried several approaches. I managed to get it working for a few seconds, but it seemed temporary and I can't reproduce it.
Yeah, none of them go past F. And they have a port forwarding option and a option for dedicated IP; Which i assume would be what i'm wanting. Is there a reason it's showing a ipv6 one instead of four? (though idk if it matters on the "private" one right? isn't private just for local connections in plex? Edit - Like i said in the post, i did get it working for like a few seconds, so i do believe it's possible, i think i'm just doing something wrong or need some help/input. It seems PIA will assign a random port for you. Verify that the PLEX instance is listening on that port or that the port is forwarded to it. You can reach the instance via http(s)://pia_public_ip:port. For better clarity, sharing more about your configuration would be useful: What operating system is the PLEX running? How are you linking to PIA—through your UDM or directly on the PLEX device?
