Hi, I'm working on setting up remote access through your Plex server. The issue I'm facing is: Not available outside your network. Your server is authenticated on Plex but can't be reached from other networks. Tip: It seems your server might be linked to the internet via several routers or devices. Consider connecting it directly to your main device or check our support page for help with this "Double-NAT" problem. I've tried adjusting the port on my modem and router 32400, but nothing worked. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers! Modem: Huawei HG659 Router: Asus RT-AC88U

There’s no escape from that unless you buy a fixed IP from your internet service provider.

The problem lies with having a gateway instead of a modem. A gateway combines both a modem and a router, resulting in multiple layers of NAT and two firewalls between your device and the internet.

You can connect the ports from the modem/gateway to the router and then route them to the plex server. Based on your ISP and modem, you might also be able to enable bridge mode, which routes traffic through your router and gives it a public IP address.

You've successfully set your modem to bridge mode, but remote access is still failing over 4G mobile. It looks like you might need to configure your router to support bridge functionality properly. Check the router's documentation for steps on enabling bridge mode or adjusting settings to allow remote connections through it.

If the Plex Server indicates connectivity is fine, it suggests the issue may be resolved since it prompts the Plex Cloud to confirm. Make sure you're using your public IP address rather than a private one. You might also check the Plex website for further troubleshooting steps.

Consider another way: connect a port to the ISP gateway as a bridge, making it function similarly to a modem. Use port1 as an example, then let your router handle everything. What type of link are you using? Fiber, DSL, or coaxial?

Once the modem operates in bridge mode, you’re left with a single layer of NAT and firewall between your device and the internet. The following stage involves confirming that all necessary ports are forwarded correctly on your router. As mentioned earlier, when accessing the internet from outside your network, ensure you’re using the IP address provided by your ISP. Remember this number may shift occasionally without warning.

You can also forward the port to your modem's IP address.
