You’re currently using your existing Windows build without a fresh purchase. You haven’t installed the SSD yet and are considering transferring your files from an old flash drive. It should be possible to move everything over, keeping all your data intact. As for when you’ll buy and activate the new Windows, it depends on your plans—once you’re ready, just follow the activation steps in the installer.

Was dein ursprünglicher Windows-Version auf einem gekauften Computer oder hast du eine eigenständige Version erworben? Exp : A) Kauft ihr einen Dell-Computer mit Windows 7, der auf Windows 10 aktualisiert wurde. Oder B) Kauft ihr eine CD-Version von Windows 7 und installiert sie auf einem veralteten Gerät.

I bought a ready-made PC from CyberPower, upgraded it but don’t have the key anymore. I’m not interested in keeping it, and I’m thinking about getting a new key from Kinguin instead.

You can't change your Windows installation because it's an OEM license tied to your old system. For now, you can run Windows 10 without a product key and use it normally. Personalization options and security features like Windows Defender will remain locked until you activate them again. All other functions should work for the next 30 days.

After completing Windows, install any required drivers, connect the old drive, and save any useful information. Use the second drive for extra storage. Some titles offer saved game folders; check those out if helpful.

I understand your concern. When configuring your computer, ensure the following settings are applied: enable UEFI, disable CSM, set XMP to Profile 1, configure AHCI mode for SATA non-RAID drives, avoid Legacy mode, and activate Fast Boot and Secure Boot. For storage devices, connect your SSD or HDD to SATA port 0 when installing Windows 10. Allow the installation process to complete by giving it time. After initial login, observe the setup activities—app installations, updates, indexing are underway. Wait for the start menu to clear the down arrow and Windows Update to indicate no further updates. Once confirmed, open the Store app, select "Download and updates," and click "Get updates" to check for built-in program updates. Do not uninstall apps until this step is finished. At this point, proceed with removing unnecessary drivers, restart the system, and install programs gradually. When everything appears correct, transfer your data to the new system.
