My machine occasionally produces a mechanical snoring noise, especially when using an old mechanical HDD. It was limited to just two SSDs, one odd configuration, a GPU with two fans, and a SFX & CP cooler fan. The sound resembles a poor placement on a HDD, but none of the components are present in the system. I haven’t detected any smoke or unusual smells, and I didn’t expect a fan to create such a noise. Also, it would occur more frequently with a fan, yet there’s no DVD drive in the odd setup.

Remove your hard drive to determine its impact on noise. Also, try removing the GPU and simply powering on the computer. Consider unplugging the fans.

The most recent time you put your computer to sleep was [insert date]. Consider capturing the sound with a microphone or smartphone and adding it to the post. Disconnect the disc drive from the system and test again. Verify that fans aren't rubbing against anything, such as loose cables. This guide is for situations where your computer has an issue.

The HDD is no longer in the system. I only have two SSDs and one odd drive. It sounds like a fan might be rubbing against a cable.

Consider your fans changing speed unpredictably and possibly not working well. Start up in Setup (BIOS) and navigate to PC Health or a similar section to review Fan Speeds and identify any irregularities.

It seems like a strange mechanical noise, possibly from an HDD hitting a problem area. I assumed it was resolved until it was removed. The issue might be with the PSU, as the CPU and GPU fans keep running while the PSU only cools when necessary. That kind of sound isn’t typical for fans. The PSU was installed around 2020 and is still new.
