I’m trying to determine the ideal monitor for your setup and whether your PC can handle high refresh rates during intense gaming. Should I aim for smooth 4K gameplay with solid frame rates or prioritize higher frame counts? Your games include COD, CS:GO, RBA6S, Skyrim, and Escape from Tarkov. The system specs are a strong Intel Core i5-9600K with 6 cores, 3.7–4.6GHz power supply, an 80 PLUS 500W PSU, and an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB card. You have 16GB DDR4 RAM at 2666MHz. This configuration should comfortably support modern gaming, but the monitor choice will affect visual clarity and comfort during long sessions.

For your gaming style, 144 Hz offers better performance than 4K at reasonable frame rates. To get the top of the game, aim for 1440p at 144 Hz.

I don't have a specific budget mentioned. Could you clarify what you're referring to?

Depends on what ill be getting for the money, but 500£ would be the limit, preferably around 300. Unless there's a big benefit

Check if 144Hz provides smooth performance on your system. Look for alternatives that match your hardware capabilities.

Consider upgrading to a higher refresh rate monitor if you want smoother visuals. Your current 60Hz setup may limit performance for gaming or detailed work.

You can obtain a solid 2560 x 1440 display at 144 Hz for less than £500. Since I’m not very comfortable with the British currency, checking Amazon.co.uk looks promising, and the choices seem quite attractive. You might even discover even better offers elsewhere or in nearby electronics shops. A 144 Hz rate is perfect for first-person shooters because it refreshes the screen 144 times each second, making actions like opening doors in de_dust2 smoother. On 60 Hz, enemies may occasionally miss, especially if they’re fast. Also, as we’re on his forums, here’s Linus’ perspective on 4K gaming.

It seems you're unsure about the required specifications. Good examples would help clarify what you're aiming for. You might want to check reliable sources or videos for guidance. Haha, I'll take a look at the video when I get back from work!

It seems this could be something great to share on a display topic, though it might not fit here. For most games, a higher refresh rate is clearly better. The only exception is Skyrim, which is limited to around 60 fps due to engine constraints—even then, modding becomes difficult at 1080p. It also depends on your monitor size; for screens 32 inches or larger, 4K is likely necessary, and 1440p content looks poor on a 32-inch display.
