Hi everyone, I was chatting with my cousin about CSGO aiming and mouse control. He moves his mouse smoothly across the entire pad while I swipe, lift, go back, and swipe again for camera movement. His technique feels more fluid compared to mine, which tends to be a bit choppy. What do you think about different ways to move your mouse while gaming? I’ve lowered my sensitivity to 2.14 and it’s made a noticeable difference. Since I’m playing on a laptop with a different mouse, I’ll need to adjust again when I get home. I also considered getting a larger mousepad because I often reach the edge while moving. The Steelseries Dex caught my eye—I might try the 12x10 size. Right now I’m using the smallest QCK and a Mionix Avior.

I usually pick a setting that covers a full 360° on my mousepad (10 inches). This way, when the mouse is centered and I swipe left, I turn right toward the back of my desk. It seems to balance speed and responsiveness with accuracy.

I operate at 450dpi and 1.6 sense currently, I cover the whole mat to rotate 180 degrees, then return to center once more unless I’m heading back 180 again. A precise measurement would let you turn 180 with just one swipe—this is broken if your mouse has any acceleration.

I rely on a Qck+ and G400 setup, aiming for about 1100dpi with very minimal game sensitivity. This is personal preference; some competitive CSGO pros use high dpi/sensitivity and play against those with the opposite extremes. In my view, reduced sensitivity combined with greater mouse movement per pixel generally improves precision.

It seems the situation plays a role too. When I talk about my sensitivity, it's mainly because I play alone without anyone to cover my side. If I had a solid team, I'd definitely hit the 180-degree swing across the whole area and be much better.

In CS:GO and similar FPS games, I'm using claw mode with lifting and swiping, but in LoL I'm more relaxed and dragging, which changes things. I set my sensitivity to 3.14 for GO.

I understand... most people use the whole mousepad. I attempted to cover the entire surface, but it made my arms feel stretched out, which isn’t comfortable. I think I’ll try that over the weekend to adjust. Thanks everyone. At first, I used a high sensitivity setting and found it hard to be precise. I gradually reduced it and it’s improving. I should note I’m not using a mousepad anymore and am switching to the desktop with a standard Microsoft mouse at my cousin’s place.

People have different preferences when it comes to sensitivity. Some like high sensitivity for faster spins, others prefer low for more precise control. I used to go with high sensitivity, but over time my body couldn’t keep up, so I switched to medium sensitivity. This lets me stay accurate while still being responsive. For a 180, I’m usually around 1-1.5 inches. I tend to start higher and gradually lower it until I find the right balance—so I can react quickly without overshooting my target. I don’t play as competitively anymore, so I just adjust to what feels natural in other games and adapt accordingly. It seems sensitivity can also depend on whether you’re using a wrist or elbow style.

I work at 3500dpi with the highest sensitivity setting in CS:GO. I keep my motions tight, mostly staying within a 2x2 inch area.

The adjustment is limited to a 180-degree turn. No further increase needed. When I previously played competitive CS:1.5/1.6, I set the in-game sensitivity to 1.8 and used default Windows settings without acceleration. Dpi was around 800.
