his friend's system performs poorly in Warzone, dropping to 50-60 FPS during matches. despite similar settings on YouTube games, the game runs at only 120-150 FPS. i suggested checking the MSI afterburner logs to diagnose the issue. he was using 94% GPU usage, yet only 38% of power consumption, using just 85W—unusual for a GTX 1080 ROG STRIX. the CPU was at 70%, so the problem isn't the processor. his specs are: i7-4790K, OC to 4.6GHz, 1.3GHz Z97 ASRock, 16GB RAM, 2400MHz, GTX 1080 ROG STRIX, Corsair 750W.

Requested resolution is 3840x2160, adjusted to maintain 50-50 efficiency while reducing energy use.

Is this about the resolution? You seem to be asking if it's 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 instead of 1440x1080. Also, at 4K, the system can't support that resolution.

Yes, I understand the system struggles with 4K resolution. I requested it to run at 4K to check if it consumes full power, though the GPU usage is around 94% and energy use is about 38%.

Increase GPU performance by forcing it to operate at maximum capacity.

The GPU is operating at 94%, which is typical for gaming.

The limitation comes from the CPU, not just the overall load. Even at 70% CPU usage, you're already using most cores and entering heavy hyperthreading traffic. I haven't seen such high CPU percentages in Warzone before—I usually see 90-140 FPS with my GTX1070. The performance drops noticeably when the CPU usage climbs higher, suggesting other processes might be consuming resources. I tested the game alone with MSI Afterburner, no dual monitors or Discord open, just to rule out background activity. It would help to know if he’s running extra programs or tweaks that affect performance, or if he’s using multiple monitors while watching videos. A 60-80% CPU range with a 99-100% GPU usage on a GTX1080 at 1080p seems reasonable, but the 50 FPS drop hints something beyond the game is influencing it.

The same settings perform better in Ultra because of optimized performance adjustments, while the default settings may have limitations or lower frame rates.

there’s an issue, it was supposed to consume more power and higher FPS. there are online videos showing the same setup can boost performance by doubling the frames per second.
