I'm considering setting up a PC for guests or friends who come over to play together. I want to avoid buying the same game multiple times, so I was wondering if it's possible to transfer a game to an external HDD and move it to another computer. Since I only have one functional PC right now, I’m not sure if this is feasible. Please let me know if there’s any chance to do this.

You can transfer games to another HDD by logging in with an account that already owns them. If not, you’ll need to purchase them first. Alternatively, you can sign into your personal Steam account directly or create a new one to share games with it.

Which game are we talking about? Should it be able to link with a Steam server or work over a local network?

It's a shame we can't do things like this on the Xbox 360 anymore.
