Playing on the FPS game with a controller feels smooth and responsive.
I've been using the controller on my PC without any issues for months. Recently, I noticed severe FPS drops in Fortnite, dropping to as low as 30. The game has always run smoothly at 165 FPS, but now it feels unstable. I'm using an Xbox controller via Bluetooth, and I don't experience drops when using KBM. My PC handles the game effortlessly, yet performance starts to decline after about 15-20 minutes of use, with FPS dropping to 40-30 and frame freezes beginning. The controller software is fully updated, and the issue started after CHP 5 season 2 was released. Please help me fix this. Thank you in advance.
Check if the power-saving settings can be disabled in the settings menu. Many people assume it affects performance, but since you’re using just a controller and no keyboard, it won’t impact speed. However, the system might interpret this as a "not responding" state and switch to power-saving mode.
Interesting. If you're using a wireless controller, try it in wired mode. If you're using a wired controller, try it in wireless mode if it has wireless capabilities. Not sure why that would help but it's worth trying right? I would say that this is a good opportunity to get good at playing on KBM... I started playing Fortnite very recently, in July 2023 - C4S3. I played on controller for a month and I was awful at the game. Switching to keyboard took a week for me to get used to but now I'm so good at FN on a keyboard. I still can't build though... that's why I play Zero Build!
