playing old multiplayer games you still enjoy
I still play Counter Strike Source occasionally. It's significantly better than GO in my view.
Unfortunately, many old multiplayer games I used to play have lost their official servers, and community servers are either rare or I simply haven’t had the time to set them up. For instance, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault stopped after GameSpy ceased operations, which was the 'Call of Duty' experience for me during my childhood. Another game that comes to mind is Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The former was a big online favorite of mine, but after the 2014 Nintendo Wii WiFi shutdown, I haven’t played it online since. There’s a custom server project called Wiimmfi that appears to function well and maintains a small Mario Kart Wii online community. It hasn’t worked for me yet, and I didn’t have the time to fix it.
I still enjoy playing Team Fortress 2 quite often. I also occasionally jump onto CS:Source, and the same goes for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Not quite sure what you think of old games, but here are most of the Steam titles I’ve played that were made a while back...
7 Days to Die
Aliens Colonial Marines (requires friends for multiplayer)
Black Desert Online
Black Squad
BRAIN/OUT
Brawlhalla
BRINK (needs friends for online)
Call of Duty Ghosts (best with bots or friends)
Dirty Bomb
Doom 2016
GoldenEye Source
Grand Theft Auto V
Insurgency
Kreedz Climbing (great community support)
Left 4 Dead 2
Line of Sight
Monday Night Combat (most fun with bots)
Of Guards And Thieves
Paladins
PAYDAY 2
PWND (needs friends for period)
Secret World Legends
Skullgirls (needs friends for multiplayer)
Sniper Ghost Warrior (alone on maps, no friends)
Spacelords
Survarium (recently revived)
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (still engaging and not too forgotten, though a bit overlooked)
Tribes Ascend
Warface
Warframe
Warhammer 40,000 (needs friends for multiplayer)
Wickland (fun when you play with friends)
Wurm Unlimited (great community, but it’s a long-term game)
Zombie Panic! Source
I almost spent a quarter of the summer on this one. I didn’t want to buy it at first since I was into Half Life 2 and Estranged Acts, spending a lot of time on those. Is CS:S worth it in 2019?
