Waiting on a new GPU to come in for my main desktop but have been planning on using some of my old hardware to make a HTPC for steam games & emulators in the living room. I've been pretty happy with the "Upscaling" that my Samsung TV has been doing with the Switch as it outputs 1080p, so I'm wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with PCs running at 1080p and then relying on the TV to upscale the image to 4k. Here's the planned list of parts (PCPartPicker) . Most I already own or am planning to pick up from ebay.

Rose will start showing signs soon, and you don’t need image processing to handle that since the input delay is an issue. That configuration should support 4K60 on older titles originally. Back then it was possible.

Fascinating. I hadn't considered the Maxwell Titan's capabilities. Also, I'm not familiar with what rose dithering means, but this opens up a new area of interest. Likely, I won't find NVIDIA continuing support for the 900 series for much longer, so I might eventually buy a used RTX 3000 card later on. This would simply be to get things started.
