Playing games on a quad channel RAM setup.
Playing games on a quad channel RAM setup.
The comparison between the two systems depends on their specific configurations and how they handle bandwidth. System A uses dual channel with 64GB at 4,000MHz CL 19, while System B has quad channel with the same specs. Generally, more channels can improve performance, but actual FPS gains also depend on other factors like game optimization and system load.
The variations in CPUs will be significantly larger compared to the distinctions between two-channel and four-channel setups
Yes, the 10900K generally delivers better performance for gaming compared to the 10900Xe, even with the latter's quad-channel support.
Certainly. However, playing at 4K or 1440p still works well with those Ryzen 7 3700X chips.
The 10900k performs much better in gaming. The 10980xe also struggles against high-end CPUs, making it somewhat irrelevant. What are you aiming for with gaming? 64GB of storage for games isn't necessary at all.
Thanks for pointing this one out. I watched some benchmarks of the 3970x vs 10980xe and they are the same, sometimes one of them outperforms the other. But there is a benchmark of the 3970x vs 10900k and the 10900k wins by miles. Applying this logic, the 10900k is still the best for gaming. Although those benchmark don't really say if they were running their threadripper at quad channel or not which makes the conclusion incomplete....
The quad channel isn't worth it unless your RAM isn't the limiting factor. More likely, your GPU is the bottleneck because you're getting excellent CPU performance.
Threadripper outperforms the Extreme edition i9 by delivering similar performance with half the power and heat. For the 10900K, it’s a decent product overall—it consumes more energy than any single CPU or GPU on the market, generates as much heat as a small sun, and only slightly surpasses a 3900X full package. It demands a superior board, cooler, and power supply to keep up. If you prioritize top gaming performance, opt for the 10600K now or consider Zen 3 in a couple of months. I can’t go into much detail, but Zen 3 will make the 10900K look quite underwhelming.
