Discovered a vintage storage unit filled with my old PC games from the early 2000s. My top picks were Hot Wheels World Race and Dirt Movers. If I attempt to install them now, the software says my hardware (FX-6350) isn’t supported. How can I fix this compatibility issue? Can I fake the hardware profile so it works instead of blocking me?

Consider using a virtual machine or obtaining a used older computer. Items from the era when those games were released are often available at no cost.

Windows versions from 95 to 10 are running in virtual environments. The host processor appears correctly, but the installer thinks it's using a newer CPU and won't install.

Try launching them in compatibility settings. I recently played Pitfall Mayan Adventure on an i7 7500U.

You can obtain a used computer at no cost. That’s all it takes.

It depends on how the spoof is crafted; if it mimics the exact signature and behavior, it could work. Otherwise, compatibility might not be achieved.

I'm not sure about the FX 6300, but AMD generally had more compatibility problems compared to Intel in this area. The issues you're experiencing likely stem from the CPU drivers inside the BIOS. Trying to set compatibility mode via Windows only succeeds if the CPU and chipset agree with it.

It's common for games to refuse playing on a 2MB virtual video card, even with a VM. Have you attempted using compatibility mode for the installer?
