You're facing performance issues because the game isn't optimized for your PC's hardware. The R9 290 series graphics cards are powerful, but running them at 20 FPS on a mid-range PC suggests compatibility or driver problems. Check your GPU settings, update drivers, and consider using a more capable card if possible.

AW does not accept Xfire/SLI at Matriox. Disable one of your GPUs.

You could access the catalyst control center and turn it off there. It might help improve performance.

It seems like the issue might be with your CPU or you could wait for a patch release.

Crossfire assistance becomes accessible only once AMD releases an updated driver version. Perhaps this is the problem; until then, the safest option is to turn off the second component and test it to determine if the issue lies there.

You haven't played Crossfire much, but using a GPU-capable catalyst might help. It could push performance up to around 60+ frames per second.

I turned off one of the settings and my FPS increased noticeably, but I still experience occasional drops in the 30s and 40s.

Confirmed, my CPU usage reaches 100% during this game, which is uncommon compared to my typical gaming sessions.

Remove the GPU and possibly boost your CPU speed to 4.5-4.7Ghz, then test performance changes.

I’m assuming Activision didn’t handle things properly and the game relies a lot on basic single-core speed. Or maybe it’s challenging enough that a powerful Intel processor is necessary to run it smoothly.
