The update process seems to be taking longer now that the patch is out. I’m concerned about how playing games like Borderlands 2 might affect the download speed.

It shouldn't delay the download. Only when you play a game on Steam and download via Steam does it pause the download. You can also adjust this in settings, but Steam won't slow Origin down otherwise. )

According to what I understand, even with cloud saving enabled on Steam, the performance would be around 50KB/s. That matches the speed I experienced when using the cloud feature. Unless you’re downloading another game simultaneously, there should be no impact from Steam otherwise.

I was considering just using Steam offline to avoid performance issues. That was a worry, thank you for resolving it.

It shouldn't be that much unless your connection is slow, and it won't work if it can't reach a server.
