We’ve tried playing via Steam Remote Play, but it’s not available anymore. We’ve also begun using hot seat games, though we can’t continue due to the coronavirus situation.

I understand now. They likely won't be able to do it unless the game's owner configures a VPN network and connects the devices to it.
