Mostly any game I play on the internet drops out occasionally. People mention I’m playing LoL, but sometimes it says “connecting please wait.” Even after that, I have to restart the game because it doesn’t start properly. The same thing happens with Fortnite—I can see around but can’t shoot or move, and everything stays frozen. It seems to occur across different games. My PC isn’t the issue since it works on my PS4 too. My internet speed is around 600 Mbps, which shouldn’t be the cause. Any suggestions about what might be wrong? Thanks.

It seems you're checking your network setup. Confirm if both the PS4 and PC are connected via Wi-Fi. Does switching to a wired connection help resolve the issue? Are there other devices that sometimes encounter problems?

both are linked via a Cat 5e Ethernet cable. I haven’t seen any other device experiencing this issue, even though I don’t use anything else. Occasionally, when the PS4 is on, my mobile phone’s Wi-Fi connection becomes unstable and I have to reconnect it for it to work properly. Edited December 26, 2020 by Liamisko123

Both devices are connected via wired interfaces...are they linked to identical systems? Is there a wireless router involved, and does it function similarly to the network your mobile phone uses? Look for shared points—maybe conflicting DHCP IP settings or other interference. Review any logs from the connected equipment. Also, identify the type of incoming connection: fiber, coaxial cable, telephone line (DSL), etc. Are you operating your own modem? Does it comply with the required standards for the speed and connection type you currently have? Check the status page on that device (if available) to confirm there are no errors or signal problems affecting channels.

Yes both connected to a new switch(that isn't the problem for sure). We are using optical fiber … Though I don't know much about the modem because we've got it from out ISP. The whole circuit goes like this: optical fiber -> modem -> Router -> Switch -> PC,PS4 etc. At this point the problem could be either in the router, modem or the ISP. Also I've tried doing couple of connection tests here are some results: Duration of test 10m 33s since 2020-12-28 14:33:53 Licensed duration of test 10 minutes Upload time (avg/max) 1.5s / 2.7s Upload bandwidth (avg/min) 16.245Mb/s / 8.695Mb/s Download time (avg/max) 1.3s / 2.4s Download bandwidth (avg/min) 18.593Mb/s / 9.883Mb/s Current status pause between tests: 2.7/6s here is another one: https://imgur.com/a/5vyHhDC

To confirm the issue isn’t from the new switch, check if similar symptoms appear when connecting the PS4 and PC directly to the router’s 4-port switch instead of through it. This helps isolate whether the problem lies elsewhere.

I haven’t checked the LAN ports directly, but I don’t think it’s necessary because the issue also happens when the PS4 connects wirelessly, so the problem likely isn’t with the switch. Thanks for the responses so far!

You've asked about connecting your PS4 or PC directly to the router. It's important to verify the setup and monitor performance through available tools. Check if you're using a standard router with logging features, and confirm whether PSN displays offline status when disconnected. Also, observe network behavior in Windows for any alerts or changes. These problems can occur at any time and may be influenced by usage patterns.
