I purchased Sonic Generations today through the Humble Bundle and wanted to know if my DualShock3 could be used. Would it work without MotionJoy or with it? Perhaps I should opt for an Xbox 360 controller for Christmas if that doesn’t function. Also, is it possible to use a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller for Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed?
You'll likely need a third-party tool for the DualShock 3 on PC. A 360pad also functions well, so consider it if you're having DS3 compatibility problems. I'm cautious about MotionInjoy—it didn't work for me and many others reported similar issues. There might be other options to explore.
Right, so I just installed MotionJoy and I am already experiencing problems. I installed it years ago and it didn't work because of the same reason and now it's happening again.. I have my DS3 connected via a USB cable to the back of my PC, the lights are flashing.. Meaning it is charging. However, MotionJoy does NOT detect it, making it un usable in that program. I have not seen exactly the same problem I have, but I have only seen talk about a USB Bluetooth dongle being used for connecting the controller to your PC. Does either one of you know what I did wrong? Would this work?
I really struggled too. I spent around an hour a year ago trying to test my brother's controller. The analog sticks didn’t respond, though the buttons functioned correctly. It turned out the problem wasn’t the sticks themselves—the controller worked fine on the PS3.
Well MotionJoy isn't locating my controller either. I'm searching online for solutions and might shift focus tomorrow. Alright, I've installed a PS3 controller again. After setting it up, it worked without any issues. Now I can play Sonic Generations with my controller! I haven't tried the racing game yet.
