Hi there! I just assembled a PC for your friend using parts they found for free. The setup includes an Intel i7 920 @ stock processor without an aftermarket cooler, an ASUS P6T motherboard, 6GB triple-channel DDR3 RAM at 1GB, a 650W Antec EarthWatts 1TB SSD with a Wi-Fi card from Seagate Barracuda. He asked if he could run GTA V on the slowest settings possible at 720p or even lower, without worrying about overheating too much. Thanks a lot!
He got it on the new GPU, actually... My 650ti with just 1GB of VRAM managed it... The i7 920s is not too slow, though it’s a bit old.
You probably don’t have sufficient VRAM for GTA, even when using lower options. All other aspects seem normal. If someone can handle a 750ti, they might be able to run it at medium settings at most.
I’m really not concerned about the proc; he’s well-prepared and could handle it. He’s aiming for a 970 in August, but he’d prefer to start sooner.
He might attempt it... I have no idea what the outcome would be.
