Already tried Warzone, it works fine but feels a bit dull. I’m okay with the experience if it runs smoothly at 120fps plus ray tracing or high settings. I checked Valorant though—it’s region-locked, which isn’t ideal. I’m not supporting that platform and won’t waste time on it. Looking for other free-to-play games that are tough on hardware, not just shooters, but that fit the bill. Thanks for understanding!
Fun fact, ray tracing is actually disabled in Warzone even if you can tell it to run. Apex Legends Black Desert Online Final Fantasy XIV Trial Version (basically free game up until level 60 with a few restrictions) Destiny 2 Elder Scrolls Online EDIT: Oh, there is also the Free Demo of Outriders available on Steam.. its a new game launching on April 1st so it has up to date graphics etc for todays modern hardware. @Mark Kaine incase you looked at this before I edited it.
Awesome, that's what I was looking for (black desert, and final fantasy I already knew but didn't really consider them as they're kinda old, but I can imagine they could be kinda hard to run, and I rather not sign up with yet another account for a service if I don't really have to... even though I did for Warzone lol) And yes, demos or betas are fine too of course, preferably with online play (guess that's rare though) haha, really? I could have sworn water and shadows looked much better with it! or is it a new thing? I noticed they changed quite a lot with recent 2 patches or so, like 'dynamic resolution' which is probably the main thing why I've lost interest, image quality took quite the hit imo, even if not used (like there are lots of pop ups that weren't there before imo) well anyways, thanks for the suggestions!
Outriders demo offers a 3-player cooperative experience across all platforms. You can download it from Steam.
Warframe offers a solid third-person experience at no cost. Genshin Impact is also available for free. War Thunder, World of Warships, and World of Tanks are all complimentary options whenever you're interested in WWII themes. Destiny 2 seems to have been referenced as well. For Battle Royale fans, there are many choices like Realm Royale, CRSD (formerly Cuisine Royale), Apex Legends, and Z1. If you own a PlayStation or Xbox, Vigor is also accessible. On the Ubisoft Store, you can find solid trial versions—around ten hours long—for Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Wildlands, plus The Division (though the latter is likely the main title). These titles vary in demand and provide high-quality visuals. Using a credit card lets you enjoy the first month of Game Pass for a reasonable fee, giving access to more content.
Are you looking to dive in or just observe? FFXIV offers its own standalone tests, with the latest being Shadowbringers. The next major update is likely at the end of the year, which will probably bring another independent benchmark.
Path Of Exile. My 980 Ti couldn't reach full performance and keep 60fps with a bling-heavy build.
@porina, both options are worth considering, but for this discussion I'm focusing on something I can actually enjoy. The FF 15 benchmark is definitely interesting for that purpose. I've always wanted to play FF14, though I find it odd to start such a late game. Thanks for the ideas! Genshin might be worth checking out—I've already downloaded it on my phone, but haven't played yet. It could help me decide if I want to try it on PC too. Honestly, I didn't plan this when setting up the thread, but aside from region restrictions, I'd rather avoid signing up for multiple storefronts. A standalone launcher or Steam would be better. I signed up for Blizzard because I was curious, but I'm starting to feel a bit regretful about it. Region locks are a big deal; besides that, I'd rather skip signing up for various store accounts. I also didn't really consider Ubisoft or using a Microsoft account for this, especially if it wasn't necessary. Speaking of games, I started playing PSO2—on the surface it doesn't seem like a graphics-heavy title, but it's tough to run and probably not optimized well. Even at medium settings, the performance feels poor. I'd expect something like Genshin Impact or BDO to suit my needs better. As for shooters, I've looked at a few, but they mostly feel more about art style than gameplay. Games like PUBG or Fortnite would be more appealing, though they're probably outdated and not free.
That also looks to be another case of bad optimization though? Processor: Quad core 3.2GHz x64-compatible Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti or ATI Radeon™ RX560 Though, otherwise seems also interesting so thanks for the suggestion.
If you have time, give it a shot. The free trial (with certain restrictions) lets you experience the core game and the first expansion, which can be quite a time investment if you enjoy it. There have been numerous quality-of-life improvements over the years, making it much simpler to try. If you decide to play, you might see me at the Chaos data centre. The main difference lies in control, and there could be issues if you have friends on different platforms. It doesn’t appear difficult to run on a PC, but I really appreciate its artistic style.
