Play games on the go using desktop to laptop streaming.
I own a fairly powerful home setup for gaming and I have decent internet connectivity. Sometimes I experience noticeable pauses while not using my main machine, so I need to switch to my laptop for smoother performance. Recently I started playing Snowrunner, which only offers local saves on Steam and I don’t want to deal with save migration worries. It’s also worth mentioning that my desktop consistently outperforms my laptop in FPS, making streaming to the laptop ideal for more advanced visuals. I’m not looking for games with high latency or input delays, as those would hurt my experience. I’ve been using Steam’s remote connection feature recently, but the lag is still problematic—especially since my internet speed here is more than three times faster than at home. (The lag isn’t steady; it spikes slightly even when the connection is stable.) I’m curious if anyone has suggestions for software that could improve my connection to my PC and enable better game streaming on the move. Additionally, I’d like to explore using a portable power adapter that could act as a wireless power button for my PC while traveling. Do you want these games played online? Your connection should support the stream, though the upload speed is limited. Have you considered using Parsec?
Parsec offers solid performance in terms of latency, based on what I've learned and observed. It's free, making it a good option to try. Ideally, you should perform the task on the same network, with both devices connected via a physical cable. At least ensure the host has a wired connection. For enabling remote power activation, you can look into solutions like wake on LAN or check your motherboard's documentation for setup guides. You'll find plenty of tutorials online on how to configure this.
