Considering an upgrade from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 9 series is on the mind. It’s feasible to retain your current motherboard and RAM setup. Your components look solid: Asus TUF Gaming B450 motherboard, 4 x 8GB RAM at 3600MHz, Corsair PSU, RTX 2070, Samsung storage options, and multiple monitors with high refresh rates.

When choosing a Ryzen 9, you might consider upgrading your power supply unit. Your motherboard could require a BIOS update if you're referring to models like the Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X.

Tuf B450s generally struggle with 12+ cores according to the VRM tier list. If you plan to use a Zen 3 CPU, you'll likely need a BIOS update too. I don't know if ASUS has a beta BIOS for these models yet.

Considering the specs of the Ryzen 9 3900X or Ryzen 7 3800X, it seems they fit your motherboard. Upgrading your PSU might be necessary since the 650 model is outdated and the current one is around five months old.

I’ll need to review it then I considered a Ryzen 9 3900X or Ryzen 7 3800X as they fit my motherboard, but you mentioned they have 12 or 8 cores and it’s unclear if they’d perform well enough.

Many MSI B450s offer sufficient voltages, and it's a chance that with proper cooling, you can maintain stable temperatures using the 3900X on the TUF B450. Not perfect, but feasible and worth exploring.
