Planetside 2 should reduce its memory consumption.
The memory usage in Planetside 2 seems unusually high. I usually get smooth performance with 60+ frames at full settings, except for shadows and lighting which I reduced. However, after just under ten minutes, frame drops become frequent as the paging file gets involved. This issue appears only with this game. The screenshot shows RAM usage dropping from around 7.8GB to about 1.9GB, which is roughly 6GB of memory in use.
It's also among the most demanding for processors I've encountered.
For a brief instant I thought the weight was just 1.96 gb. But I realize now that with 1000 players online, it makes sense the server would need a lot of memory.
Frankly, planetside 2 is incredibly impressive, both conceptually and in terms of the resources it uses. It truly stands out compared to other titles. People often ask about PC gaming options, and I just let them try planetside 2—it’s free, and it delivers.
Planetside 2 was the push I needed to upgrade from XP 32-bit to a 64-bit Windows version with 12GB of RAM. It was a big leap for me back then. I’m surprised PS2 managed to run it, especially since the game itself is 32-bit. The system should have been limited to around 4GB at most.
