Placement of thermal pad on motherboard to aluminum case
Placement of thermal pad on motherboard to aluminum case
I own an aluminium ITX build with the B450I board and a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (not overclocked). When playing Cyberpunk 2077, which is demanding for both CPU and GPU, the temperature climbs to around 93°C and the room gets quite hot. Adding a fan near the case would lower the temperature by 3-4°C. Seeing someone install a thermal pad inside a MacBook to boost cooling gave me a thought—placing a pad behind the motherboard where the CPU sits could turn the whole case into a heatsink. Anyone tried this before?
Typically, it's wiser to purchase a higher-quality cooler for your CPU. Options from Noctua, including their compact models, can effectively lower the temperature to a more comfortable level.
I've already set up the new Noctua NH-L9I Chromax Black. That's why I'm hesitant about purchasing an AIO and exploring alternative solutions.
