I also experienced the same problem with my 6 non pro model. MKBHD mentioned it on his podcast. It seems they resolved the issue in the most recent Android release, though I can't confirm. I replaced mine due to those problems and the poor fingerprint reader. Are you sure you're using the latest Android version?

The update to Bluetooth AVRCP Version 1.6 and MAP version 1.4 resolved the problem.
