It varies based on nearby wifi signals and the number of walls present, including their material such as sheetrock, brick, or lead-lined. You can use a WiFi analyzer app on your phone to view channel usage and adjust your router for optimal performance.

Your router is located a distance from your PC and you're using a USB Wi-Fi adapter. Your latency stays around 60 ms, but it spikes to 150–800 ms during torrents, causing download pauses.

I didn't mention it. I attempted to use a colleague's computer via the powerline adapter, and it functioned properly.

We determined the ping values by checking each device. There could also be interference from your PC, such as Windows telemetry, which might affect other apps on your system.

I'm using Windows 7, so I think telemetry won't be a problem. AMD Quick Stream shouldn't cause any issues either. If you share your specs, I can check for potential problems with the games you're playing. You mentioned testing pings with CSGO, Rust, League of Legends, and Fortnite.

Measurements should be consistent to remove inconsistency. Online games aren't a trustworthy method for checking ping times because they’re influenced by other players and game quality. Changing the games used makes the result even more variable. If you’re following updates, telemetry remains a concern but is less precise. To troubleshoot, place your PC nearer to the router and connect it directly—see if problems persist. Experiment with different Ethernet cables as well. If issues continue, it’s likely the PC itself. At that stage, consider using a USB Ethernet adapter and check if it improves performance. They’re also useful to have on hand.

I didn’t merely connect them and start playing once. I handled the troubleshooting for several months, alternating between my laptop and PC for roughly a year.
