Hi! I was assembling a computer for a friend. Everything seemed okay until I tried to install the graphics card and forgot to remove the bracket. While taking it off, I accidentally struck the motherboard near the bottom left corner. A small pin got broken there. I assumed it wouldn’t affect booting, but I’m still checking everything. If it all works fine now, should I worry about future stability or long-term performance? I’m unsure if that pin was crucial for the motherboard’s stability or just part of the audio setup. The system includes: Ryzen 9 3900x, MSI B550M, Mortar WiFi, RTX 3070, Kingston SSD, 1TB NVMe, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz, Corsair RM 750W, and a 2TB HDD. SEAGATE MSI MAG FORCE 100R. It's not a waste of time, though it might connect to audio jack sensing or switching inputs. You might have only checked the stereo output, but another jack could be damaged.
Just wish it wasn’t the microphone jack. If not, I guess it won’t be an issue. Still, I’ll have to pay the friend for the motherboard, haha.
You can connect the microphone to any jack in the rear, and the sound card will automatically recognize it. In the worst case with the front panel header, you can purchase brackets to move the headphone and microphone jacks to the rear.
