The 12900K offers much better performance on multiple cores, while the 13700K outperforms it in gaming and multicore tasks. Guru3D tested a 3090 here. Note: The 7700 model comes with a functional air cooler, unlike the 7700X.

You require a completely different DDR5 setup because the current chip doesn’t handle gaming, video streaming, or rendering well. Switching to something like the 5800X3D offers better performance without the high price of a full new system.

The goal is to secure the last run of evgas cards and possess the strongest version available. Apart from the 3090ti, which costs much more, I’m avoiding purchasing Nvidia 4000 cards. Updated on October 2, 2023 by LivePerkins77

Yes, the shift to DDR5 is happening due to its advancements in speed and efficiency.

I'm switching to DDR5 because it offers a longer lifespan. The latest CPU lines also provide a clear upgrade route between AMD and Intel, allowing me to move smoothly from 12th to 13th or even 14th generation without needing to replace the motherboard or other components. DDR5 is definitely superior to DDR4.

They won’t be affordable at a reasonable cost. 3090 has always been too expensive, yet checking the PCP models shows prices starting around $1300+, and even the $750 7900XT is quicker.

Consider extending the life of existing systems first. Upgrading components can help, but it’s important to balance performance needs. A 5800X3D can boost gaming speed, while a 5950X improves workload handling. Although slightly slower than the latest models, these options offer significant value compared to the cost. Spending £350-£450 instead of $1000 makes a meaningful difference. New technology won’t vanish if you wait—upgrading now could save money in the long run.
